Our Story - A Hit Running Forty-five Years!
In 1980 Elise and Steve Seyfried arrived in Philadelphia and began writing and performing their own shows as Duet Productions. Their unique blend of imagination, humor and raw energy proved to be a great match for schools, libraries and community centers throughout the region. As the demand for shows grew the Seyfrieds began letting other actors in on the fun, always in pairs.
In 1982 a tour of Delaware libraries brought the team to Rehoboth Beach. Seeing a great opportunity, they began performing their shows at All Saints Episcopal Church and the Rehoboth Summer Children’s Theatre was born.
In 1986 Duet Productions was incorporated as a non-profit and became Family Stages. RSCT incorporated became a non-profit company the same year. The two organizations now carry on the spirit of the founders as talented young professionals take their roles in the shows. Steve continues to manage the company while Elise is a freelance writer, publishing five books of essays and producing exceptional articles for print and online publications.
